What is Polyvinyl Chloride?

Polyvinyl chloride, or PVC (-CH2-CHCl-), is a chlorinated hydrocarbon. It comes in the form of a fine white powder classified as a thermoplastic material. It is produced from a chemical process known as polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) with water and additives to become PVC resin.
